MORE: Uh Oh: Apple's MacBooks Have a New Keyboard ProblemĪt 6.1 x 3.9 inches, the MacBook Pro's Force Touch trackpad accurately tracks your input and can fool most people with its haptic feedback, which substitutes for an actual clickable mechanism.

The company says that it has employed "a new material" that's supposed to help solve these types of issues, but we won't know for sure until we've used the 15-inch MacBook Pro over several weeks. During my testing, I clicked to a rate of 70 words per minute (with 94% accuracy), which is a tad below my 80 wpm average.Īpple has been in hot water over its Butterfly keyboard, especially when it comes to accidental double-clicks andstuck keys. The keys feature a super-shallow 0.6 millimeters of travel (well below the 1.5mm minimum that we look for), but require 71 grams of actuation force, which is above our 60-gram minimum. The MacBook Pro's keys offer a clicky typing experience that's rooted in the fourth iteration of Apple's controversial Butterfly-style key switch. The MateBook X Pro shines even brighter at 497 nits. The 15-inch MacBook Pro's panel emits up to 403 nits of brightness, which beats the 346-nit workstation average, the 371-nit XPS 15 and the 247-nit Spectre x360. Side by side with the Huawei MateBook X Pro, which has 0.15-inch bezels, even the MacBook Pro's 0.3-inch side bezels look a tad chunky. That's below the 144% workstation average, the rating from the Spectre x360 (157%), and similar to the scores from the Dell XPS 15 (115%), and the MateBook X Pro (104.2%). Here is another list of graphics cards supported by Snow Leopard (10.6.x) but not OpenCL capable. Our colorimeter rated the MacBook Pro's screen for producing 114% of the sRGB color spectrum. There is also a Radeon HD 3870 Mac & PC Edition that works in early Mac Pros.

The Radeon HD 5870 card requires Mac OS X 10.6.4 so it may not work with the retail DVD. See " About graphics-card compatibility between Mac Pro models". I do not think the DVD sold today is of a never version.Īpple has a list of video cards that came with the original Mac Pros. I believe the retail DVD came in version 10.6.3.

Naturally you can upgrade the card once you have updated your macOS to 10.6.8 or a later macOS version. If you are starting off with a PC and a Snow Leopard retail DVD then you need a graphics card that works out of the box.

I'm not too bothererd if it's from either Nvidia or ATI/AMD, I just need to know what is the easiest card to work with on Snow Leopard. I just need some info straight out of the horse's mouth, if you know what I mean. Does the card I need to use need to be period correct to Snow Leopard, or can I use even slightly newer cards? I need something that works OOB and isn't too expensive used. I know there's plenty of posts already listing some graphics cards, and I've done more research outside of tonymacx86 for possible cards to use but I'm still pretty stuck for choices. I've decided I'm buying used, as I guessed I don't really have a choice for 10.6. I've got everything I need (including a dead B&W G3 I'll be using as the case), however I'm stuck for graphics cards for Snow Leopard.

I've never done a Hackintosh install myself, so I need the easiest route to Snow Leopard possible. I been wanting to dip my toes in the world that is the Hackintosh for a while. Hi, this is my first thread on this forum, so go easy on me Building a CustoMac Hackintosh: Buyer's Guide
